Stone restoration conference: Our senior staff in India visited Japan Head office for training and meetings

Black and white marble floor.

This week senior staff Babu one of our stone restoration and maintenance professional came to Japan Head office located in Kyoto for training, learning and exchange information. We've discussed about several complicated cases related to stone restoration. Due to the variation of colors and designs, granites and marbles have been used in many types of floors. You might be familiar to the design which consists of different type or color of stones as seen in this picture. For this kind of high contrast designed floor, polishing at job site will be much more difficult compared to the unitary colored natural stone floor.

Dark colored natural stone need to produce deep color especially used with white colored stone because of design reason, but this color usually achieved by final buff process. Buffing for natural stone is quite different from other industries. If the stone has dark color, black colored buff will be applied. To white colored or light colored stone, white buff is preferable. So which type of buff should be applied for floor which has black and white granite in a reticular pattern? The answer will be white. But this notion is from the safe side. This may result in scarcity of deep color. To enhance the deep color, sealer would be the solution. Especially wet type sealer is effective.

The requirement for floor cleaning sometimes cannot be measured just by gloss. This can be said especially to the natural stone floor like granite, marble and even to manmade stones like silestones. Gloss is the figure that measured by reflectance of lights. So it cannot measure the color deepness. But of course, dark colored granites or marbles prefer deep color.

Taking a close look on polished black granite using new products

Babu is one of the evangelists for Granite restoration and maintenance which is not known in India so much. Actually he is the person who first introduced granite restoration methods and systems in India. As one of the largest and famous country that provide various high quality granites such as "Imperial red", "Kalahari", "Oriental grey", "galaxy" and "Kunnam", in many part of the buildings in India, granites are indispensable materials. Although granites are used as floor and walls in many parts, few people really know about "granite maintenance" and "granite restoration". We hope that this methods and granite maintenance products will be your help.

Each of our engineers is an expert on his or her professions. Babu and our various engineers discussed about technical and development issues for new products too.
