By frequently using the polishing pad, doesn't the stone floor progressively become thinner and ultimately disappear?

The stone surface that will be removed by the polishing pad is estimated to be only about several dozen microns thick (1000 microns = 1 millimeter). Assuming that you have been restoring a stone floor for 100 years, you will not observe any change in the thickness of the floor. This method is completely safe and does not harm the floor.
